Todd-AO specialises in drama, light entertainment, documentary and
music post production. We are based in the heart of cosmopolitan Camden
and are a bright, young, talent driven facility that offers broadcast,
film and commercial clients a stylish alternative to the bustle of
Soho. we are about quality, service, creativity and value.
Todd-AO formed as a joint venture between Michael
Todd and the American Optical Company in 1953 for the purpose of
developing and distributing a large film format presentation system
incorporating a wide curved screen with multi-channel sound.
This new system was so impressive that the
theatrical team of Rogers and Hammerstein offered their most successful
musical, Oklahoma, as the first feature film to be released in the new
format. Oklahoma later went on to win the Oscar for Best Sound in 1955.
This early success fuelled the company’s growth and soon after,
Todd-AO moved to the site built by Charlie Chaplin on la Brea at Sunset
Boulevard in Hollywood. the following year, Todd-AO won another Academy
Award; this time in the Scientific/Technical category.
During the next few years, Todd-AO continued to
collect various technical and creative awards while the Todd-AO system
was becoming the industry standard for production and exhibition
markets. It was during this time that Todd-AO also began to focus on
post production.
Todd-AO in London was previously owned by the
Chrysalis Group and known then as Chrysalis Television Facilities.

Facilities in 1994.
